Alfred Fournier
Jigsaw Puzzle
I started small, with the flowers
near the edge of the frame,
their yellows, blues and reds began
as scattered confetti, arranged
bit by bit into elegant patterns.
Now, only the green thrashing sea
remains unmade beneath sunset sky.
I wonder why
I lean so hard into the wind,
when here in this chair I am at my ease
watching everything come together
one piece at a time.
